      Hello Community Partners,

As part of the strategic focus on building community vibrancy, last year Mayor Lefebvre committed to the creation of a more streamlined City contact point for community organizations and volunteers.

To help us better support our community groups, a new Community Initiatives and Partnership Section has been established within the Leisure Services department at the City. This new section will be the main point of contact for all community groups and volunteers. They will receive and manage requests, guide community groups through policies and processes, provide information on funding, and support project development from start to finish.

The one stop resource centre for community groups and volunteers will bring together a group of employees who are already doing related work in various areas of the organization, including Shelley Walushka, Sherri Moroso, Steph Mathieu and Barb McDougall. The City is in the process of updating our City website and has created a email mailbox to support operations and intake. The team can be reached at

The new Community Initiatives and Partnership Section team members will be reaching out to various community organizations and groups in the coming weeks/months to discuss current relations and partnerships with the City, how we can better support your operations and provide guidance when needed. A news release about the team can be found here:

We look forward to working with you to continue to create a more vibrant community for all.

      Jeff Pafford
